With Rs 5 lakh police has "closed" Tarseem's murder case but Giri's family still screaming for justice | Dalit organisations fume over police's atrocities on community youth | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Dalit organisations fume over gruesome murder of a youth Tarseem Lal facing charge of narcotic smuggling, who was allegedly killed by five policemen of Special Operation Group (SoG) of J&K Police on Sunday. While as the helpless family members of Rakesh Singh Giri, another Dalit youth who was killed by police in fake encounter on November 21, 2010, are moving from pillar to post to get justice, the "brave" cops of J&K police have gunned down another Dalit boy in the name of encounter. Dalit organisations have reasons to fume because nearly four and half years have passed but nothing has been done to provide justice to the family members of Giri. In the meantime police has alleged killed another youth of the depressed community. With the intervention of Social Welfare and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat five police of SOG have been arrested for killing Tarsem Lal but justice still eludes to the poor family of Giri. Police fired on a youth identified as Tarseem Lal, involved in narcotics smuggling, when he tried to escape after his arrest in Domana belt resulting in his death on Sunday. A case of murder was registered against the cops after Forest Minister and MLA of Domana Bali Bhagat visited the youth's family and promised them registration of a murder case against the accused policemen. Rakesh Singh Giri was killed by police in an "encounter" on November 21, 2010. Victim's family had strongly refuted police's theory and had approached human right commissions for justice but till date justice denied to the them. On November 21, 2010 evening, police had claimed to have killed Giri in an encounter and injured his accomplice Yudhvir Singh alias Bablu, in ever-busy area of Marble Market in Trikuta Nagar extn. They were alleged to have been tasked to kill witnesses in the Amandeep murder case by Choudhary Nagar Singh alias Nago on the day of the encounter. Police had claimed that the conspiracy to killed witnesses, including ex-MLC Depinder Kour, was hatched by Nago in the Kote-Bhalwal jail. Jail authorities, however, had refused the police claim, saying the encounter victim was never lodged there. Shockingly police higher ups have not taken action against those officers who were involved in the fake encounter of Dalit youth Giri, to whom the police had dubbed as contract killer despite the fact that his family were struggling for two time meal at that time. |
