The inaccessible BJP ministers! | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: The J&K BJP leaders, who before becoming MLAs and then ministers, would feel honoured to speak to journalists, nowadays take pride in ignoring them. They have changed a lot since March 1 last when the BJP-PDP government was formed in the state after initial hiccups. They wilfully do not attend the journalists' phone calls and at times put them on hold. It seems as if they have developed an obsessive attachment to the feeling that the scribes are unworthy of their attention. But it was not the case before they became ministers over three months back. Before the conduct of state polls last year, they would even discuss their party matters with scribes and for that matter, also visit their offices for personal favours. But, they have taken a U-turn now. Let us start from deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh. Even if you call him a hundred times, he would never pick up his phone. If his PRO by chance responds to the call, he would say - Sahib meeting mein hain. Baad mein phone karna (Sahib is in meeting. Call later). With this sentence, he would cut the line. Second in the line is health minister Lal Singh. He too never responds to the repeated calls made to him on his cellphone. Forest minister Bali Bhagat has also all of a sudden become inaccessible. Some others have changed their old cellphone numbers to remain unapproachable to their old acquaintances. People attribute their this change to the BJP's unexpected success in the state elections. "They are MLAs and ministers only because of we people. We voted them to win 25 seats. If they ignore us, history will surely not get repeated," Jammuites have been saying so in household discussions. BJP and its ministers are being criticised at almost every platform in Jammu mostly for the change in their attitude and ideology. According to our Srinagar correspondent, many of the PDP ministers had also become unapproachable to the masses. |
