JAMMU, Aug 11: "Messages flashed on various social sites regarding abduction of civilians in remote belts across Jammu region has not only kept forces on tenterhook but also created fear psychosis among the populace," a senior police official here today told agencies. Meanwhile, today's incident of kidnapping of a man reportedly by the militants in Kalakote area of Rajouri forced army, police and para-military forces to launch search operation in remote villages. "A man this morning called up his family on seeing some suspicious persons but after that his cell phone went out of reach, which made family apprehending his kidnapping allegedly by the militants," Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri told agencies. He said there could be so many other reasons behind his phone going out of coverage area but still acting on the complaint lodged by the family, search was launched but neither any militant was found nor any case of abduction or holding anybody hostage has been reported so far. "But, still we have alerted our forces and carried out searches across the area," the SSP said. Yesterday also rumours of holding five members of a family hostage by the militants in Doda district made forces to remain on alert and launch searches. "With Independence day approaching nearer, trouble mongers are trying to disrupt the peace by spreading such rumours but they are under scanner and will be dealt as per law," a senior police officer said. He said that in the wake of August 5 Udhampur attack, security is already beefed up in the state. |
