Mir, Sham force dissidents to fall in line | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 11: Establishing their authority, the PCC president G A Mir and senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma have finally forced the dissidents in State unit of Congress to refrain from their rebellion postures and fall in line before the party leadership. This became clear during the party convention at Pahalgam, held under the chairmanship of PCC president G A Mir and attended by all, except the recently suspended leaders Gulchain Singh Charak, Abdul Gani Vakil and Prem Sagar Aziz. The dissident leaders, including Thakur Hari Singh, R S Chib, Arvinder Singh Micky, Nirmolak Singh and others attended the convention thus giving a clear message that there was no more dissidence in the Pradesh Congress. Even as MLC Jugal Kishore skipped the meeting, sources said that he had personally conveyed Mr Mir that he would not be able to attend the convention because of some family engagement while former MP Janak Raj Gupta could not join others because of health problem. According to the sources, the third front leaders, who attended the convention, virtually sought to assure that they would not resort to dissident activities in future and expressed their faith in the leadership of PCC as well as its president G A Mir. Even as the third front leaders claimed that the temporary ceasefire with the PCC president was on the direction of Ghulam Nabi Azad, sources said that assertiveness of senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma forced the dissidents to fall in line. It was Sham Lal Sharma who made it clear to the party high command that there should be no leniency towards dissidents who must be shown the door if they don't fall in line, sources explained. Meanwhile, sources also disclosed that the party high command is likely to review suspension of Prem Sagar Aziz who has tendered a written apology while action against Gulchain Singh Charak as well as Abdul Gani Vakil is all set to remain in force.
