'Fake appointees' lock CMO office in Anantnag | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Reoprt Anantnag, Aug 11: Unhealthy state of health department can be gauged from the fact that no official has came to negotiate with protesting 'fake appointees' who locked down the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag. Reports said that employees who were appointed in health department without any proper recruitment process have locked down the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag and are protesting against the 'pick and choose policy' In 2012, finance department pointed out irregularities in the health department and exposed much hyped health department recruitment scam. 2274 fake appointees were established by then director health services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ul-Rehman, who was heading the committee constituted by the government. Unpaid from last two years, protesting appointees alleged that government resorted to pick and choose policy in clearing the cases. "Those who could pay large sums are drawing out salaries and those who couldn't pay are being punished," appointees told Early Times. They said that if finance department identified 2274 fake appointees why government is withholding the salaries of only 133 employees. "We are being made a scapegoat in this scandal which is the reason that we are protesting and have locked down the office of Chief Meidcal officer," Javid Ahmad, an appointee told Early Times, adding authorities should apply the same yardstick on every one. He said that appointees will continue to protest till they will get justice. "Either release ours salary or stop the salary of all 2274 appointees which were identified by the finance department," they said. They said that they can't not afford to see their children die of starvation and threatened to bring family members in the protest and will not allow to function the office of Chief Medical officer. A senior officer of the health department confirmed to Early Times that CMO's office is dysfunctional from last over ten days. "They aren't allowing CMO to enter in the office," he said. Meanwhile repeated attempts to contact Director Health services Kashmir went unheeded. |
