Rajouri, Aug 11: Students of Engineering department supported by the students of other department of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri today and boycotted their classes to join protest demonstration over alleged slow pace of investigation into scholarship scam. The students also alleged university too has failed to take action against those who were involved in the scam. Expressing resentment over slow pace in this regard, the students resented the silence adopted by the Vice Chancellor in this matter and said that they will continue to boycott the classes till the action was not taken against the culprits. Students also demanded to replace all those officials who have been sitting on the single chair for the last more than 8 years and allegedly were involved in the financial irregularities and scholarship scam. Meanwhile on the directions of Vice Chancellor, Principal, College of Engineering and Technology (CoET) Prof Asgar met with the student leaders and held negotiations with them on their issues/demands. Later he met with VC and after detailed discussions VC agreed to meet representatives of the students on Wednesday and also assured to release soon scholarship money in favor of beneficiaries. "Scholarship money was no important issue we have given a list of five demands to Prof Asgar. If VC agrees to our first four demands then strike may be called off otherwise in case of any rigidity shown on part of BGSBU administration to resolve the issues raised by the students, the indefinite strike will continue till the achievement of logical conclusion" said Asrar Imitiaz, student of 7th semester of B.Tech. He also said that they have prepared a list of the students who have been meeting with VC on Wednesday. |
