Early times report

Udhampur Aug11: Overloading in passenger vehicles in particular plying on the different link roads is not only going unabated but is becoming a warning signal for a 'tragedy' as the traffic police allegedly have failed to keep check over this and putting the lives of daily commuters at risk.
Irked over routine affair of overloading in passenger vehicles, the locals have demanded from administration to take steps to check overloading in vehicles to save precious lives of daily commuters.
According to locals the public transport plying on almost all the routes of Udhampur District, is extremely overloaded thereby increasing the chances of accidents but none is bothered.
Locals said that overloading of vehicles plying on rural and hilly areas of Ghordi, Barmeen, Ramnagar, ,Tirchi, Latti, Gandala, Panchari and Mongri route has become a routine affair for passengers and the drivers.
"Buses, mini buses and other smaller vehicles are often seen overloaded on these routes, but none from concerned authorities seemed to be bothered to handle it before it is too late.
Locals alleged that drivers of these vehicles plying on link roads in Udhampur have a nexus with the officials of Regional Transport Office and traffic officials who only are making easy money through overloading by ignoring it deliberately without giving a second thought to any tragedy God forbids if happens
Many people yet recalled the incident when many people lost their lives and scores of passengers got injured in Latti in a road accident few months ago caused due to overloading.
