Exceptional Move: Police urges fuel stations to deny fuel to 'traffic norm violators'
Police initiates different steps, including public awareness to streamline 'chaotic traffic'

Bhaderwah, Aug 11: In a bid to streamline the chaotic traffic in mountainous Doda district, police authorities taking exceptional initiative has directed fuel station owners not to sell fuel to those vehicles riders who are violating traffic norms like without wearing crash helmets and tripling and etc.
"This measure, Police said, "would save precious lives of our young generations which has just becoming a copy cat of stunt drivers in celluloid be it Hollywood or the Bollywood.'
Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas who brainchild many new initiative to create awareness among people about hazards of traffic rule violations, today said, "This move is expected to discourage bikers from driving without helmets."
"Scores of teenagers riding two-wheelers without crash helmets have fell victim to traffic accidents every year, SSP Doda said and added, "This dangerous trend needs to be curbed at earliest."
Appreciating the cooperation of petrol pump owners, he said, "Their cooperation is highly appreciated by way of denying filling of petrol to such errant motorcyclists."
"Our aim is to save precious lives. We have also been requesting people through media and other sources to abide by the traffic rules," SSP Doda said. He also appealed the fuel station owners to bring such violators to the notice of nearest police post.
"For speedy action, the owners of filling stations or anyone who witnesses traffic rules violations can reach us at our phone numbers in any Police station of Bhaderwah and Doda or can also inform to PCR Doda by giving details of particular bike or the violators," SSP DOda Zahid Manhas said.
He also appealed the parents of teens and others to make their wards aware of the precious human lives as any traffic road mishaps leaves the victim family and even the family of accused to pass through long metal agony and emotional loss so all sane people shall teach to regard the value of others live especially the pedestrians walking along road side.
Urging car drivers to adhere the lane system, SSP Doda said, "Lane driving is safe and saves time as violating lanes only ends up in traffic congestion which just kills time of every individual and even steals the golden hour of the patient if got stuck up in such traffic congestion."
"This is a good step as the youth are seen involved in stunt biking on many link roads of Doda district and there is a need to stop this dangerous trend," said Prof G M Batt Rector Bhaderwah campus.
The 'No helmet, no petrol' scheme will certainly pay in a long way though it will make some (riders) irritated," said another resident of Doda Thakur Yudvir Singh .
Pertinent to mention the Roads in hilly erstwhile Doda district amounts to a virtual massacre of innocents and are notorious as 'killer roads' as official records say that these roads have killed more people than the militants do.
