Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 11: There is a brewing resentment among the people of State especially those living in Jammu region over inclusion of Urdu as a compulsory descriptive subject with a weightage of 30 marks in the syllabus of written test for the post of Naib Tehsildar.
The VHP patron Dr Rama Kant Dubey while criticizing the decision said that this is a ploy to deprive the youth of Jammu region from competing in these examinations. He said this is a discriminatory step and the Government should rethink over the decision failing which the VHP and its sister organizations will be constrained to come to streets.
He said it is not known why Urdu will be a compulsory language in Jammu and why not Hindi which is a national language. He said such a step will have a negative effect on the youth of the region.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri has also taken strong except to Government decision in this regard saying that it is a ploy to stop the youth of particular community from joining the Revenue Department and give a monopoly to one particular community.
Kashmiri said the Pandit youth and maximum youth of Jammu region have not studied Urdu and hence they will be unable to compete in the examination as per the criteria fixed by the Government. This has generated a lot of resentment among the youth as well as various nationalist organizations in the State and in case the immediate steps were not taken to revoke the decision the people will be forced to launch a movement.
The decision was also strongly condemned the the Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thakeray and other organizations of the State.
Thakur Madan Bhandari General Secretary Rajput Sabha Kishtwar has also strongly condemned the government decision of including Urdu as a compulsory descriptive subject with a weightage of 30 marks in the syllabus of written test for the post of Naib Tehsildar.
Bhandari termed the government decision as betrayal with Jammu candidates and further said the government decision to include Urdu as a compulsory descriptive paper with a weightage of 30 marks in recent syllabus under JKSSB is going to have negative repercussion on the Jammu job aspirants.
He said why Urdu is being made mandatory only to Naib Tehsildar and not for Tehsildar and other revenue officers who qualify KAS.
"The KAS, appointed to such posts performs their work as well, even though they have not qualified such Urdu paper as referred for Naib Tehsildar,: he said adding that such a decision of government is a deliberate attempt to ignore Jammu aspirants as government knows very well that very few candidates know descriptive Urdu language in Jammu division.
He said in 2009, when Naib Tehsildar syllabus was announced making Urdu as compulsory subject, but that time Congress Minister Of Revenue Raman Bhalla Ji rolled back the decision by removing Urdu as a compulsory.
Bhandari demand immediate interventions of Deputy CM MOS Revenue to look into the matter so that aspirants of Jammu cannot suffers.
