ABVP activists, students cane charged for demanding staff at GDC Sunderbani 8/20/2015 11:31:26 PM Early Times Report SUNDERBANI, Aug 20: Police today cane charged the peacefully marching students at main chowk Sunderbani to disperse them. The protestors led by ABVP Sunderbani Secretary Rohit Kumar were demanding deployment of teaching staff at Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani. The protest which started from Degree College was later joined by students of Higher Secondary schools. They raised slogans in favour of their demand. When the protestors reached main chowk police cane charged them after harsh exchange of words. ABVP secretary Rohit Kumar told media persons that they were marching peacefully towards SDM office to submit a memorandum to government for immediate deployment of teaching staff in GDC Sunderbani but police beat them without any provocation. A girl leader Priya alleged that police even did not spare female students and used abusive language as if they don't have mothers and sisters at their own homes. She demanded suspension of SI Rakesh Kumar who ordered lathicharge. Later, on the intervention of SDM Harbans Lal Sharma and Tehsildar Pankaj Sharma, the students were pacified.
