Srinagar, Aug 20: The cabinet has left the babus guessing about their fate by deferring transfers in its meeting held on Wednesday.
Top sources within the coalition told Early Times that the Government was seen indecisive over the postings of some senior civil officers due to which the decision had to be kept in limbo for some time. "There was unanimity seen on several decisions about the transfers of some officers, the cabinet witnessed differences within. There were some ministers in the cabinet who objected to the postings of some civil officers due to which the list has been kept in abeyance," sources said.
They added that though the fate of former SMC commissioner G.N.Qasba, Talat Aziz, former Director Tourism is uncertain, there are several other officials about whom the Government is mulling to take action. "But there is no similarity in the decision making within the cabinet due to which the subtle issues are being avoided," they said.
Meanwhile, the babus in the Civil Secretariat were seen biting their nails and crossing their figures as the Government has kept guessing about the decisions of their postings.
Sources said that the transfers and attachments of two dozen officers is in the offing and same shall only be executed once there is a nod in unison witnessed in next cabinet meet scheduled to be held on Friday.
Also, some ministers in the coalition who earlier had leaked the news of the transfers of some officers will be on cards during Thursday's cabinet meet, were rebuffed and ridiculed by the Chief Minister. "It is unfortunate that the cabinet decisions are leaked ahead of their execution. Such a trend is unacceptable and needs to be stopped," sources privy to this development told Early Times. They maintained further that the Chief Minister himself raise the issue ahead the cabinet commenced and asked the ministers not to spill beans ahead of time.
Meanwhile, the Government had to come up with the excuses over why it didn't ordered the transfers in police and civil administration on Wednesday. It stated that the cabinet could not take up the agenda of transfers of police and civil officers because discussion and decision on other important agenda points consumed so much time that the members unanimously decided to defer the matter of transfers to next cabinet meeting scheduled for August 21, 2015.
The Government also stated that following the lengthy cabinet meeting it was decided to keep on hold the transfers of police and civil officers in next cabinet meeting.
