Now, JU's VC adjusts his favourite scholars | | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 20: The Jammu University is in news again for wrong reasons, as its Vice-Chancellor is allegedly favouring and promoting the scholars close to him. Interview for contractual lecturers in Commerce was held today in which most of the scholars known for their association with the VC were selected, insiders told Early Times. In fact, against seven posts, eight candidates were selected. Two posts of contractual lecturers in Commerce for main campus, one for Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), four posts for off-site campus Udhampur were to be filled. For the main campus and DDE, 13 candidates each had been shortlisted for the interview, sources said. They said against four posts for the Udhampur campus, five candidates were selected. Making mockery of the interview norms, sources said the VC sent his close associate and a scholar (now Associate Professor) as his nominee during the interview. The Selection Committee comprised Dean Academic Affairs as chairperson, Dean Research, Dean Commerce, Registrar JU, Convener, HoD Commerce, Director Udhampur Campus, Director DDE, and Assistant Registrar Teaching Wing. "In an attempt to promote his scholars, the VC not only increased number of posts of lecturers required for the Udhampur campus but also sent his scholar as his nominee, ignoring senior faculty members," sources said. No senior official from the JU was available for comment. |
