Old Mufti shows he is the boss | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 20: Mufti Sayeed may not have performed a remarkable feat yet but he definitely has won appreciation for removing the `dead wood' and `corrupt' elements from the administration. This is what the former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah promised when he assumed office in January 2009. However, after a few days he admitted his helplessness by stating that corrupt was deeply rooted in the administration. Mufti Sayeed, it has been reliably learnt that another list of the `decayed' and corrupt babus had been prepared and finalised. It has been further learnt that the Chief Minister has given his nod and the axe is likely to fall on them shortly. For the first time after many years, it seems that the ministers are controlling the babus. It has always been the other way round. In Dr Farooq's times, the ministers were seen seeking appointments with the Chief Secretary. Mufti displayed his strength during the Wednesday's cabinet meet. After seeing that the agenda of the meeting had been leaked, he chose to defer the transfers in the police and the civil administration leaving the anxious babus guessing. |
