PM package employees are homesick | ‘Rehabilitate us fully or take us back’ | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 20: Concerned over separation from their families since their appointment in Kashmir Valley in 2010, the displaced Pandit youth appointed under PM's employment package are left with no option but to return to Jammu. This was also convened by them to Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh and Minister of Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga at migrant camp Veerwan Baramulla during their visit today. ``We have been totally separated from our families and society as Government failed to redress our problems'' one of the migrant employees told Dr Singh during the interaction with him in the camp today. He informed Dr Singh that they are homesick as their parents and children are at Jammu and other parts of country. `` We are socially also isolated and our heart is in Jammu or outside the Valley as our all societal connections are there'', he added. The Government should either take us back to Jammu and adjust us in camp schools and other institutions there or make concrete efforts for the rehabilitation of the community in Valley, said another employee. ``Our children are at one place, parents at another place and we are totally isolated'', he added. He appealed the Deputy CM and Mr Ganga to bring them out of these problems and urged them to take steps for rehabilitation of the displaced people as per their aspirations in the Valley. The displaced employees showed their anger that the government has created high hopes among the community for its return in Valley but has failed to take any step in this regard till date. ``If the Government is sincere in return of the community it should not delay the decision'', said an agitated employee in the camp. He said the employment package has itself been delayed and for last eight years out of 6000 posts announced in 2008 only 2000 posts were filled up in last six years. He said the files of various employees who were interviewed by the authorities are pending with the Government for approval for months together and these files are gathering dust in Civil Secretariat. The Deputy CM however while appreciating the concern of the displaced people assured them that the coalition is committed for the rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley but certain vested elements are creating hurdles and they don't want the Pandits to return. He however assured them that all steps are being taken in this regard and Government is bound to ensure rehabilitation of Pandits with dignity and honour. He said unnecessary hype is being given to construction of Sainik Colony in the Valley when there is no such proposal with the Government. He however said the Government will deal with such elements firmly and assured the displaced Pandits that all steps will be taken for their security and redressal of other problems. |
