350 employees of Associated Hospitals Jammu without salaries since Jan 8/20/2015 11:51:53 PM Bijay Charak Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 20: Nearly 350 contractual employees of the Associated Hospitals of Jammu are without salaries for the last seven months. Sources told Early Times that the Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) have been working in Associated Hospitals including Super Specialty Hospital, Medical College Hospital, SMGS Hospital, Chest Disease Hospital and Psychiatry Disease Hospital. An employee of the GMCH said that in January this year, they received salaries of the previous year's last three months, and since then seven months have passed but they haven't received salaries for the current year. "Whenever we inquire about the salary delay from the higher officials, they assure us that the matter has been taken up with the government and that our pending dues will be cleared as early as possible," she said, "but these repeated assurances have proved to be a hoax." "The inordinate delay in releasing the salary has caused a lot of problems for us," said another female employee, adding that she was unable to meet her household expenses. "Even the grocery store has refused to give me the items on credit." Another employee, who is working at the SSH, said she could not afford school fee of her children and the school administration has warned to expel her children. "I belong to a very poor family from a remote area of Jammu district, and I have to spend Rs 60 every day on transportation and food. It has become very difficult for me to meet my requirements in the absence of salary," the employee said. GMC&H Principal Dr. Ghanshyam Dev Gupta feigned ignorance about the salary issue. The Accounts Officer Surekha Gupta said, "We didn't receive funds from the administrative department, hence the delay in releasing the salaries.
