13 administrative posts vacant, party in no mood to fill them | BJP's pro-Jammu claims exposed | | Avinash Azad ET Report jammu, Aug 20: The BJP's claims about being champion of Jammu's cause have proved to be a hoax, as around 13 prime administrative posts are vacant for a long time due to adamant approach of top BJP ministers. The posts are unfilled despite availability of 12 officers of the rank of Additional Secretaries, sources told Early Times. Some of the vacant posts are: DC Sales Tax, Lakhanpur; Joint Director Food & Supply Jammu; Deputy Commissioner Labour Jammu; Joint Director Tourism Jammu; Joint Director Municipal Corporation Jammu; DC Excise-Audit Jammu; DC Excise Executive; and DC Excise Audit. Other unfilled posts are: Regional Director Revenue Department; Programme Officers; and Social Welfare Department, Kathua and Udhampur. Sources said promotion and posting of 15 KAS officers has been inordinately delayed despite clearance from the General Administrative Department and Chief Secretary. "On July 6, Commissioner Secretary GAD had cleared promotion of these officers and on the same day Chief Secretary also gave his nod," said sources, adding that the file has been gathering dust since then and is in the possession of Principal Secretary to Chief Minister. The 15 KAS officers include 12 from Jammu region and three from Kashmir division. "It was the duty of so-called champion of Jammu's cause (read BJP) to clear the file. But they are showing no interest," said one of the KAS officers from Jammu, seeking not to be named. He said now all the officers are pinning their hopes on Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The KAS officer said that because of delay in posting of the officers, public services have come to halt in these departments. "It is very shameful for BJP that despite being a partner in the coalition Government, they have reneged on their promises made to Jammuites," he said. Notably, the promotion and posting orders of the KAS officers were to be issued on August 18. But the issue was not discussed in the cabinet which met in Srinagar on August 19. "It was expected that our much awaited orders will be issued, but the Government does not seem to be interested in welfare of Jammu people," said another KAS officer. |
