With no fresh ceasefire violation deceptive calm prevails along LoC in Poonch | | | Early Times Reoprt Jammu, Aug 20: Deceptive calm prevailed all along the line of control in frontier Poonch district throughout the day on Thursday when no fresh incident of ceasefire violation was reported in the last 24 hours. Though there was no firing reported today along heated LoC, yet the border villagers preferred to stay away from their homes and hearth for fear of getting caught in the cross fire. Meanwhile army manning the Line of Control (LoC) seemed to stand tall and alert to foil any nefarious designs of Pakistan army of pushing in small groups of infiltrators inside the Indian territory. According to official sources, since last night no fresh report of cease fire violation was reported in the area. The firing which started around1:30 pm came to a halt at around 7:30 pm across Hamirpur and Mendhar sectors of Poonch, as per defence officials. According to ground reports, the majority of villagers who had shifted to safer places continue to stay put in their relatives homes and for many others who cannot afford the luxury of staying in a house in the absence of any close relatives have been given shelter by the others to save their lives. Meantime as per official sources the next 48 hours ahead of the NSA talks are going to be very crucial as any extreme provocation in the form of fresh offensive along the LoC may create fresh road block in the dialogue process. The firing in the area was going on since first week of August and after a long gap of 12 days the area witnessed relative peace for one complete day when sounds of mortar shells did not shatter the peace in the hills |
