Jammu, Aug 20: In alleged gang war, an auto driver who is brother of an under trial in murder case was shot at by three unidentified persons at Bikram Chowk, this afternoon. "The injured has been identified Ranjeet Singh (45) son of Dhayal Singh of Satwari near Airport, police sources said. Sources said that Ranjeet who is brother of Gurdev Singh alias Danchi facing a trial was produced today in court and Ranjeet also went there to meet his brother where he had some altercation with rival party which followed the auto driver. "When auto driver reached at ever busy Bikram Chowk he was intercepted by three youth who fired a bullet which hit his right leg. Police immediately shifted the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) for treatment, sources said. Police sources added that they have identified one of the accused namely Raja of Jeevan Nagar who fired on Ranjeet on the direction of a miscreant who is facing trial in alleged supari (contract) killing. Police sources also said that a case in this connection has been registered at Police Station Gandhinagar and further investigation to identify the accused is in progress and raids to arrest them is on. Pertinently, Danchi is facing under trial in a murder of a person namely Babbi in Chatta area. |
