Srinagar, Sept 12: People suffering along Line of Control (LOC) and international Border (IB) due to repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan may have some relief as much awaited DG level Border talks between India and
Pakistan concluded with Consensus on new Confidence building measures
(CBM's).
At the conclusion of DG level border talks, both countries according to reports agreed to jointly resolve sensitive issues like ceasefire violations and cross- border infiltration through timely exchange of
information, which includes via email and over the telephonic conversation as well.
The two sides also agreed to sign some new CBMs to ensure security and well being of border populations of both the countries suffering from a long time now.
The two sides, also agreed to stop ceasefire violations along the International Border (IB) through enhanced time to time communication means.
As Borders of India and Pakistan remained tense over the years following the continuous attempts of ceasefire violation by Pakistani Rangers, according to official figures over 1000 attempts of ceasefire
violation by Pakistan were reported till mid 2015.
According to Defence Ministry fresh updates during the Year 2013,199 attempts of ceasefire violation by Pak rangers were reordered, during 2014,153 and 2015,05 attempts of violation were recorded along the Line of Control (LC) and International Border (IB) under operational control of Army, while as along international border (IB) under Operational Control of BSF in 2013, 148 attempts of violation were
recorded, in 2014,430 attempts and in 2015,156 attempts of ceasefire were recorded, however there has not been any increase in infiltration from Pakistan during 2014 in comparison to 2013.
During the last three years (2012-2014) and the current year, 193 houses were fully or partially damaged in Jammu & Kashmir. The details of Army and BSF personals who lost their lives on Border
in Last three years include; in 2012, 3 army soldiers and 2 BSF loss their lives, in 2013, 10 Army and 2 BSF and in 2014,4 Army,4 BSF soldiers loss their lives at different places along the border.
Coalition government had to face tough times in Jammu and Kashmir particularly in Jammu region over repeated attempts of ceasefire violations by Pakistan and murky handling of residents suffering due
to Border Shelling. People living along LOC and IB had to migrate from their respective
places many times this year also after Pakistan rangers allegedly continued targeting civilian areas.
Amid allegations and counter allegations of violating ceasefire, Rangers had led the dialogue and both countries according to reports maintained that it was held in a very cordial and smooth manner and
all the issues concerning people living along the Indo-Pak border were taken up and addressed with agreed consensus.
