Opposition to pull up ruling allies for doing away with past practice
Ministers' manning Secretariat after Darbar move
9/12/2015 11:52:06 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 12: Even as Darbar is less than two months away from shifting back to winter capital Jammu, the opposition is all set to question and corner the Government over doing away with the past practice of having camp offices in civil Secretariat in absence of the Government for six months. PDP-BJP alliance Government did neither continue with the precedence of rotational visit of a group of Ministers to winter capital nor did it bother to prepare a proper roaster for such visits that would have allowed redressal of grievances of the people of Jammu region in the Secretariat premises in a phased manner.
Sources said while the opposition is preparing an aggressive strategy over a number of issues, one of the matters it will confront the Government is on completely pushing aside the practice in place for many years with regard to visit of Ministers in a disciplined manner to Jammu in order to listen to problems of the people from different places. Sources said opposition will question as to why all these months this alliance Government could not send its Ministers in a phased manner and depute them with proper duties as seen during previous years, a system which had yielded desired results and appreciated in absence of Government in both the capitals of the State.
Sources said anger of people is directed most towards the BJP Ministers who kept coming almost every next day to Jammu albeit only according to their own convenience and as per their own whims and wishes. While almost all BJP Ministers visited Jammu all these months frequently, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Health Minister, PHE Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary were more regular with their recurrent visits to Jammu, besides MoS Priya Sethi who also made it Jammu almost every next week. They attended their scheduled works and functions, some private and some official ones organized here, besides addressing their constituencies that matter politically. However, none of them came to Civil Secretariat nor attended office for a single day.
On the contrary the PDP Ministers were all conspicuous by their complete absence all these months to Jammu, sources said, adding that this has been marked well by the opposition who will raise this during ensuing Assembly session. Lack of coordination in having rotational system of visit of Ministers of both to Civil Secretariat after Darbar Shifted to Srinagar in April is being seen by the people in general as a result of natural wedge and gap between the allies which are bound to have far reaching consequences in light of good governance slogan, sources said.
