Dashes NC, Congress’ hopes of coalition Govt's collapse | Mufti's master stroke shocks rival camp | | Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report srinagar, Sept 12: The master stroke of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Udhampur on Friday has again started giving sleepless nights to the rival camp that was waiting to witness split in the coalition since day one. The address of the PDP patron and Chief Minister to the PDP workers was apparently aimed at those who were striving to witness the collapse of the Government in JK with the motive to keep the pot boiling in the already perturbed State of Jammu and Kashmir. Mufti accompanied by his daughter and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti gave befitting reply to the opposition when he hinted that he had no intentions to relinquish headship of coalition Government. Six months since inception of coalition, Congress and National Conference accused the alliance of failing the people of the State- forgetting their very own turbulent regime when at least nine Cabinet Ministers had serious graft charges registered in anti- graft bodies. The Congress chief G.A. Mir went to the extent of extending support to PDP even at present. Mir asserted that his party would be ready to provide support to the PDP so that it could remain in power in the next six years. On the other hand, the National Conference while sharpening its claws against the PDP regime was eagerly waiting for this Government to collapse. Breaking the months old silence, Mufti came out in open while elucidating the coalition dharma in the State. The brief speech which the Mufti made in Udhampur on Friday was in real aimed to target the opposition. He sent out the signal that the coalition would continue to function in the State and would not break in any way. "It was indeed a timely decision to make such a speech. This has not only clarified the doubts which were in the minds of the PDP workers that the Government would collapse but has also given sleepless nights to Congress and NC who had kept their fingers crossed to see the alliance parting ways. Mufti has proven once again that he is a veteran in politics," one of the senior PDP leader said. Interestingly, the Chief Minister also said the fractured mandate in 2014 elections was by far the biggest challenge for him and his party in which he saw a new hope and an opportunity for reconciliation in the State. "Alliance did not happen in a day. It was not a knee-jerk reaction. We discussed in detail all critical issues for nearly two months and arrived at an Agenda of Alliance, which is the passport to peace and economic prosperity of the state," he said. |
