Students of PG College allege ST/SC didn't get scholarship for 2014-15 9/12/2015 11:58:37 PM Early Times Report Rajouri, Sept 12: Students of government PG College Rajouri belonging to Schedule Tribe (ST) and Schedule Caste (SC) categories held protest demonstration at the gate of college and blocked Rajouri-PG College -Darhal road for more than 2 hours alleging that they have not received Scholarship money for the academic session of 2014-15. Students said that most of the students under these categories belong to poor background and are finding very difficult to manage their uniforms, books and other necessary items for smooth conduct of their studies. Students lead by Sorabh Snehi, Guftar Dar, Mohd Kaleem held protest demonstration at the gate of the College and blocked the road after burning the tires. Students were raising slogans against the State Government, College Management and Ministry for Tribal Affairs. "2014-15 academic session was closed in the month of May and the students of Schedule Tribe (ST)/ Schedule Cast (SC) didn't get the scholarship released by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Many students have left the college without getting scholarship after completing their post graduation courses during 2014-15 session" said Sorabh and Guftar. Students expressed their concern and apprehensions that their scholarship money might have also been misused like infamous scholarship scam of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) that has rocked the university recently and after student's demand and indefinite strike for action against the officials involved in the scam, BGSBU administration had closed the university on August 25. Students have demanded immediate release of their scholarship and gave one week time to the concerned authorities to release the money otherwise they will come on roads and will start indefinite strike in favor of their demand.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
