Jammu, Sept 12 : 2nd additional sessions judge, Jammu, M K Sharma has acquitted Paramjeet Singh who was challaned by police in an alleged case of poppy straw (bhuki) smuggling after the prosecution failed to prove its case. According to the police case, an information was received on June 28, 2011 at Nagrota police station regarding the involvement of accused in smuggling and illegal sale of drugs and also that the accused was coming from Kashmir with charas and bhuki. Police laid a naka and stopped him for checking. 74 kg bhuki was allegedly recovered from his possession by the cops. After completion of investigation, police presented the challan. He was, however, acquitted by the court as prosecution failed to prove its case. (JNF) |
