SVO headship: One of three front runners facing magisterial inquiry | | | Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 4: Three IPS officers for the post of Director Vigilance have been zeroed in for the appointment of the head of the anti-graft body. If the authoritative sources are to be believed state government which earlier had zeroed in on IGP Deepak Kumar for the top slot in the Vigilance Organization which is headless since June 30, 2015 after the superannuation of Shaikh Owais Ahmad has now roped in two more IPS officers for the post. As per authoritative sources, these two IPS officers include Muneer Khan, IGP Crime and Jagjeet Kumar, IGP Security. Deepak was recommended for his expertise in handling anti-graft cases as he had served in the State Vigilance Organization and the Central Bureau of Investigation as well. IGP Muneer Khan has also strong ground for the prestigious post as he had served in various capacities and is heading the affairs of the state's premier investigation agency -Crime Branch. Jagjeet Kumar's experience in handling the investigation cases is also an open book. Sources further said that though, both police officers have strong case, but one of them is facing inquiry for allegedly usurping government land in Nikki Tawi. Sources further said that Mufti led government is also screening the right person for the post of DIG Vigilance which is also lying vacant after the retirement of J.L Sharma. Sharma attained superannuation on 30.6.2015. At present the affairs of the DIG Vigilance are being looked after by Sameer Rekhi, AIG (Policy). |
