Separatists vitiate KU atmosphere, authorities in slumber | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 5: The campus of University of Kashmir here is fast turning into den of separatism, as few people at the behest of anti-national elements are provoking students to indulge in anti-national activities. Surprisingly everything is happening under the very nose of the KU authorities. After participating in 'funeral absentia' of killed militants at the behest of separatists, hundreds of Kashmir University students today campaigned for proposed "Million March" called by Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Students of different departments of the KU ran a campaign within university campus in support of the "Million March" aimed at countering Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's Public rally on November 7. Students carrying banners and placards marched through various lawns and departments of the university and met students, teaching and non-teaching staff and asked them to participate in the Million March rally. None of the KU officials stopped these students from indulging in anti-national activity within the KU campus. Authorities turned a blind eye and acted as mute spectators. "Our first campaign today was successful in which students from different departments joined us and we will continue it for next two days," said a student. This was not first of its kind anti national activity that has happened in universities of Kashmir on the directions of separatists. After the killing of wanted Pakistan born Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant, Abu Qasim last week 'Funeral prayers in absentia' was also offered within KU campus in which students participated without any fear of action from KU authorities. Similar kind of 'Funeral prayers in Absentia' was also held at Islamic University in south Kashmir after one local militant was killed by Security forces in the area who according to sources was earlier student of the same university. Pertinently after being pushed to wall for their anti national activities, separatists in Kashmir are now using educational institutions as their platforms by provoking students to make their presence felt. In June this year Kashmir University was locked after students staged protest against celebrating international Yoga Day in the campus. In September later, the first ever Kashmir marathon was marred by violence after anti-India slogans were raised by some people at the Kashmir University campus, followed by clashes between Security forces. |
