'Save us from embarrassment, humiliation; announce separate package for Jammu'
BJP 'desperate' to sideline PDP, take credit for PM's rally

ET Report
jammu, Nov 5: Just two days ahead of the Prime Minister's rally in Srinagar, the State BJP leaders are putting in all efforts to reach out to the PM Narendra Modi to save themselves from 'embarrassment and humiliation."
Sources told Early Times that BJP Ministers and leaders have woken up from the deep slumber and have got it conveyed to the Prime Minister that the package he is going to announce should not be only Kashmir specific and he (Prime Minister) should announce separate package for Jammu region.
BJP leaders are understood to have got it conveyed to the Prime Minister that either he should announce AIIMS or Smart City for Jammu so that they are able to face the Jammu people who voted them to power.
Insiders revealed that PMO has conveyed it to the BJP Ministers and leaders that they should not worry about the Jammu region and Prime Minister is aware about the promises which have been made to the people. "Ministers and leaders have been asked to pay attention towards their work and ensure that they reach out to the people," they added.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders who have made a beeline in Kashmir ahead of PM's visit have started pretending that they are doing all the hard work to make Prime Minister's rally in Srinagar a success. On Thursday senior BJP leader and incharge of JK affairs Ramesh Arora addressed a news conference in Srinagar and claimed that all the preparations for the rally have been made and it would be a historic event. "We are expecting people in large numbers," Arora told reporters.
He claimed BJP leaders have been working relentlessly to ensure that people are mobilized and they reach SK Cricket Stadium at Sonawar, the venue of the PM's rally, without any fear and threat.
Sources said that BJP leaders are desperate to take the credit for organizing the PM's rally in Srinagar and want to sideline their coalition ally Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). "The fact is that all the hard work has been done by the PDP to make Modi's rally success and how the rally would shape up entirely depends upon PDP leaders," the insiders added.
A politician while talking to Early Times said, "BJP leaders are trying to make a last ditch effort by claiming that PM should announce a special package for Jammu or he should announce AIIMS for Jammu or declare Jammu as a smart city."
He said, "BJP leaders have woken up late. They should have approached the Prime Minister well in advance and should have put forth the demands of the Jammu people. It's unfortunate that none of the State BJP leaders took trouble to reach out to PM soon after his JK visit was announced. On the other hand PDP leaders, including the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, have briefed the PM about the promises which PDP had made to people before elections and have requested him to announce a package so that they are able to face the people."
