Jammu, Nov 5: The Jat community of Jammu and Kashmir today demanded special package from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his state visit on November 7 and invited him to celebrate Diwali with border residents. "Our community is daily facing problems while living on the forefront of Indo-Pak border and we believed that the promises made by the Prime Minister during elections helped the BJP to win maximum seats from Jammu region with the support, including from our fraternity," Choudhary Manmohan Singh, president, All India Jat Mahasabha, J&K told reporters here this afternoon. He said likewise for Kashmir, border residents also hope for financial package during PM's visit. "Last year, the Prime Minister celebrated Diwali in Kashmir but this time he should celebrate it with border people and the Army, troops guarding the border," Singh said. "We request and expect from the Prime Minister's visit that our demands will be given due consideration," he asserted. The Jat leader demanded one time settlement to the tune of Rs 30 lakh in favour of families displaced during Indo-Pak wars, 5 marla plot at safer locations for border people, RBA category for the people residing within 08 kms from border, free education, health facilities, ex-gratia amounting to Rs 10 lakh and 5 lakh for those who sacrifice life, get injured in Pak firing and 50 thousand whose cattle died, insurance to the people, animals and crops and reservation in professional colleges outside the state at par with Kashmiri migrants. |
