| CBI Court awards one year RI to two accused including AE | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 5: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu (CBI Cases) Vinod Chatterji Koul today convicted two accused of Garrison Engineer (Wing) namely OP Bhatia AE and Bhola Nath Supervisor and awarded both of them one year rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 30,000 each. The court acquitted Roop Singh and Atma Singh for want of evidence.
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu (CBI Cases) Vinod Chatterji Koul after hearing Special PP CBI K S Pathania appearing for the CBI observed that CBI has proved charges against OP Bhatia AE and Bhola Nath Supervisor and awarded both of them one year rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 30,000 each and acquitted two accused Roop Singh and Atma Singh for want of evidence.
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu (CBI Cases) also took serious note of investigation and pulled the CBI and said the investigation is in this case not been conducted seriously and CBI should also initiate departmental proceedings wherever and wherever it is found that the concerned IO has not conducted investigation properly
Pertinently the accused were booked by the CBI in misappropriation of 13988.7 KGs of Iron Scrap, 29 KGs of Copper Scrap and 2 KGs of Brass Scrap worth Rs 73043.
According to the CBI case that on July 31, 1997, an information was received in CBI office wherein it was alleged that the accused persons OP Bhatia, Bhola Nath, Roop Singh and Atma Singh and other Incharge officials while working in the office of GE Rajouri in the year entered into a criminal conspiracy where of scrap material weighing 13988.7 KGs of scrap worth Rs 73043 was misappropriated.
