Kathua lifts boys title, Samba wins girls | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 2: On the concluding day of 27th J&K State Volleyball Championship Kathua boys lifted the championship by defeating Baramulla team in boys section by 3-2 (26-24, 23-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13) whereas in Girls section Samba team lifted the championship by beating Srinagar team by 3-1 (26-24, 16-25, 25-21, 25-23) today at Government Higher Secondary School Akhnoor. Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Gupta, who was the Chief Guest of the function, underlined the importance of games in general and volleyball in particular in promoting healthy atmosphere which is conducive for overall development of J&K State. Hailing initiatives taken by Volleyball Association of J&K in organizing this championship in border town of Jammu district, the Chief Guest exhorted the youth of the State to contribute their might in making the State prosperous in all sphere of life. The Chief Guest gave away trophy, individual prizes, including medals to the teams/players/officials on the occasion. Ex Minister and Senior Vice President of JKPCC, Sham Lal Sharma, who was the Guest of Honour on the occasion, appreciated the efforts of local population of Akhnoor for extending their hospitalities to all officials/players of J&K State for making their 3-day stay comfortable in championship. Sharma praised the Pinto Volleyball Club Akhnoor headed by Raman Kumar Gupta for hosting this State Level Championship by accommodating as many as 300 officials/players of J&K State in 3-day Mega-event at Akhnoor. Sharma also thanked Raj Daluja, Patron-in-Chief, Sidharth Daluja, President, Kuldip Magotra, Chief Executive Officer of Volleyball Association of J&K for their untiring efforts in making the championship a grand success.
