Govt not to sack any ReT teacher | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 2: The Education Department will not sack any Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher. The department had though said it not retract from its decision to conduct test for the ReT teachers as it is justified to test the teaching abilities. "We are not sacking any ReT teacher but they must also justify if they are capable of teaching at all. A written test is a measure to gauge their teaching capabilities. ReT should not get an impression that they will continue to get salaries and then get regularised without any basic tools of teaching. They are also answerable," said a senior Education Department official who is privy to the developments. According to the sources the Education Minister has also directed the staff of the department not to get cowed down by the protests of the ReT and also not entertain any requests which debars them from appearing in any test. The sources said the minister has also made it clear that teaching and quality teaching is the prime concern of the government," said the official, who has been directed by the education minister not to get engaged with the ReT. Sources said the minister had also directed the officials not to get too much worried about the political implications of the decision as the opposition parties especially the former CM will himself lick the dust as the public pressure will eventually mount on him not to side with the ReT who are fairing poorly. Omar Abdullah has been consistently raking up the issue of ReT in the rallies and accusing the government especially the education minister of putting in jeopardy the carriers of these teachers. The government had though decided not to go change course on this direction and in fact is planning to put the heat on the Omar after making people how the statement of Omar Abdullah advocating the stance of ReT amounts to the fact that he wants the children of the poor section to get be taught by unqualified teachers and this the government will put the Omar in a tight spot to an extent that he will be forced to retract his stance on it. |
