Omar faltering in 'correcting' party's political course

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 2: Seen active for some time in the political activities, National Conference working president Omar Abdullah is yet again faltering in the political course of the party which began afresh after the debacle in Assembly elections last year. An year after the election results he has failed to have a correct and politically imperative connect with the party in both the regions. He has not reconciled to the fact he is no more the Chief Minister of the State nor has his coterie of few ex Ministers submitted to this reality. These are the observations not made by his rivals instead the reflexes of some senior leaders of the party he heads after he staged a comeback in a couple of rallies in Jammu region recently.
Sources said even though Omar Abdullah has embarked upon the schedule of the rallies in some parts of Jammu, many in the party are cynical than being upbeat about it. There is a reason and argument they give for their cynicism, sources said. Under his stewardship as the working president, the party has not yet made any effort to find out the reasons for the humiliating defeat at various levels , said the sources within the party. Though Omar is relentlessly trying to register his presence in the political scenario of the State, but it is only through satirical and spoofing expressions in his tweets which even though meant to hit the rivals, do not help in any manner in boosting the demoralised party cadre, said the sources.
Sources said Omar has in fact failed to develop a connect with the cadres and even senior leaders of the party who meet only when the occasional meetings are called by the high command. He still behaves in a manner as if he is the Chief Minister of the State and hardly makes effort to build a much needed bond with the workers while in opposition, sources said as being the biggest regret of the cadres who are awaiting this gesture for months now. Omar as chief of the party has not initiated any exercise to have introspection of party defeat in Jammu region not to speak of the strengthening measures.
All he is doing consistently is the criticism of the PDP-BJP Government which vacillates most of the time against the existence of the alliance or hitting out at RSS. Despite out of power for nearly a year is still under the illusion of having command and control of the things he used to enjoy as the Chief Minister. From his body language to statements and comments on the twitter, he is more sarcastic and satirical than expressing healthy criticism. The criticism is seldom against the functioning of the Government or the governance, said the sources within the NC who say this firmly that addressing the rallies at the district levels will fetch the party high command no results . This will be an exercise in futility unless the party chief connects well with the cadres, they further observed.
