Training programme organized by SAMETI | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 2: Two day training programme on 'Climate Resilient Fruit Production Technologies' was organized by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI-Jammu) in collaboration with Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST-Jammu. According to press release, the trainees from Department of Horticulture and students participated. Dr. Parshant Bakshi, course Co-ordinator for the training programme discussed about the strategies for mitigation of impact of climate change on fruit crops. He also apprised about the new biotechnological approaches like molecular characterization of fruits and took the trainees to the virus indexing laboratory of the Division of Fruit Science. Dr. Bharat Bhushan involved the trainees in skill development by accounting the necessary changes required in their region through a project which was the point of attraction and all the trainees appreciated it. While Dr. Kamlesh Bali discussed about the biologically based insect pest management under changing climate and Dr. Amit Jasrotia talked about challenges and opportunities for fruit based cropping systems under changing climate. Puja Nayyar Deputy Director, SAMETI-Jammu managed the overall training programme and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ramakant Sharma, Deputy Director, SAMETI-Jammu. |
