Hold referendum in Jammu, Ladakh: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 2: Coming down heavily on BJP national general secretary and in-charge J&K BJP Ram Madhav for his outrageous statement that the PDP-BJP coalition government was committed to implementing the agenda of alliance, expelled BJP leader Prof Hari Om on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh to constitute an impartial body to ascertain the views of the people of Jammu province, Ladakh region and persecuted and hounded-out refugees from Pakistan and Kashmir on the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance. "Prime Minister and Home Minister must constitute an impartial body forthwith to hold referendum in Jammu province, Ladakh region and refugee camps in Jammu, Udhampur and other places in the country, where the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus have been putting up since their exodus in January 1990 to find if the people of these two regions and in refugee camps condemn it or commend it," said Prof Hari Om in a written statement. An overwhelming majority of population in Jammu province and Ladakh region and all the refugees, without any exception, hate and despise the agenda of alliance, he said, adding that they want this "divisive, pro-Pakistan, pro-separatist, anti-Jammu, anti-Ladakh and anti-refugee document to be thrown out lock, stock and barrel". "For Kashmiri separatists, it is an elixir to life to their life and for Jammu and Ladakh, it is deadly poison," say the critics of agenda of alliance. "It is the most dangerous document ever prepared by any political party just for the sake of some loaves and fishes of office in the sensitive and separatist and militant-infested state," they say. They also add, and very rightly, that the "agenda of alliance has vindicated the Pakistani devious view that J&K was a disputed territory, prompted separatists in Kashmir to heighten anti-India activities to get J&K separated from India and emboldened the votaries of self-rule and greater autonomy to push forward their communal and divisive agendas". They further say that "their plight would be no different from that of the minorities in Pakistan in case the agenda of alliance is not withdrawn", and add that "the BJP has committed an unpardonable sin by subverting the Jammu's and Ladakh's mandate and by forging an alliance with a party that openly challenges the country's sovereign status, day-in and day-out, pitches for Pakistan and that was, and is, known for its very soft approach towards the dreaded terrorists". Dismissing outright the claim of Ram Madhav that the PDP-BJP coalition government had performed well, Prof Hari Om said that the coalition government only focused on Kashmir during the past nine months and reduced Jammu province to a nullity for all practical purposes. "The plight of the people of Jammu province was never so miserable as it has been since March 1, 2015, when the BJP bartered the Jammu's mandate and handed over the state power to the PDP," said Prof Hari Om, adding that even the BJP ministers in the PDP-led government and BJP MLAs, who during the past nine months didn't miss any opportunity to harm the general social, economic and political interests and rights of the people of Jammu province to keeping their Kashmiri masters in good humour, last week told Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that they and the people of Jammu had no say in the governance and that it was the PDP and the PDP ministers who were running the show and perpetrating injustice after injustice on the people of Jammu province. Their complaint to the Chief Minister must call the Ram Madhav's bluff and prove Ram Madhav absolutely wrong, opined Prof Hari Om. He asserted that the situation in Jammu, Ladakh and refugees camps will worsen in case the agenda of alliance was not withdrawn and expressed hope that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister will see the writing on the wall and appoint an impartial body at the earliest to hold referendum in Jammu, Ladakh and refugee campus to ascertain the views of the people on what they vouch for. |
