Rajouri, Dec 2: Irked over majority of link roads in Rajouri town as well as Rajouri-Thanamandi-Poonch, Rajouri-Budhal-Reasi roads got damaged extensively either due to widening process or in the absence of drainage system, the students and locals staged protest against the district administration and PWD (R&B) department and gave three days ultimatum to repair this road failing so they will intensify their demonstration.
Major link roads in and around Rajouri district including Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (about 8 kilometers), Rajouri-Ujjan via district hospital and PG college, Rajouri-Thanamandi, Rajouri-Peerkanju, Rajouri-Dassal are in pathetic condition making people to suffer.
Irked over callous approach of authorities towards this genuine problem, the students of Post Graduation (PG) College Rajouri held a protest demonstration against the district administration and PWD (R&B) department and gave three days ultimatum to repair this road or they will organize a large scale protest demonstration at Gujjar Mandi Chowk.
"Besides PG College, District Hospital, DIET complex, many private institutions etc are functioning on both sides of this road. Commuters as well as patients and especially students have been facing many problems," said Mohd Mushtaq student of PG College.
Amid slogans protesting students also said that they have the raised the issue with the College authorities, district administration and concerned department not once but repeated times but all in vain.
When contacted a senior officer of the PWD (R&B) Rajouri on anonymity said that we understand their problem and assured the repair work / black topping on this road will be resumed very soon till then. |
