PTU condemns police lathicharge on protesting labourers at Katra | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 17 : In the wake of police executing lathicharge on the protesting labourers which included Ponywalas, Palkiwalas and Pithus, PTU vociferously deplored the shocking incident which rocked entire Katra last night. Parshotam Singh Parihar State Secretary PTU while condemning the district administration for imposing sec. 144 in Katra town said that the present state government was persistently resorting to the policy of suppression to quell the mass movement. He said that the police forcibly lifted five labourers of Katra Sangarsh Samiti who were observing fast unto death and executed baton charge on the innocent protesting labourers. Parihar added that Panthers Trade Union (PTU) shall stand by the labourers who were protesting for their cause in all odds and circumstances. He revealed that the Ponywalas, Pithuwalas, and Palkiwalas were protesting against Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for its purported move of starting Battery Car services on the new track from Katra to Bhawan. He said that this move would render several thousand people hapless and jobless. Parihar while showing solidarity with the agitating labourers exhorted the SMVDSB authorities to review the decision of resuming the Battery Car service on the new track in the interest of the labourers or else Panthers Party including the PTU shall take an agitation course for ensuring rights and justice to the aggrieved labourers. He disclosed the Panthers Party shall hold a protest demonstration outside Raj Bhawan on Friday which shall be led by Balwant Singh Mankotia President JKNPP and other leaders of the party. Others who were present in the press conference included Sewa Singh Bali, Naveen Kumar and Rishi Badyal. |
