Jammu, Dec 17: Former corporators Narender Singh ex-Mayor, Batwant Kumar Ballu, Sanjay Mahey and Zaffer Javed Khan thanked the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh for taking decision for holding the elections of Urban Local Bodies in Jammu and Kashmir after a gap of six years. In a press release, they said that the elections to the Municipal Corporations were held in the month of January 2005 when Mufti Sahib was Chief Minister but the successive regime failed to hold the elections after the term of the corporation expired on 10th March. 2010. As the luck would have it,-its Mufti Sahib again who is holding these elections after a gap of six years. While thanking Chief Minister & Dy Chief Minister for giving new lease of life to the third Tier of Legislature, we remind Mufti Sahib that during the oath taking ceremony of the corporation on 1st March. 2005, he had announced that the corporation of the twin cities will emerge as powerful and functional bodies like the Municipal Corporations of New Delhi and Mumbai and they hoped that the Chief Minister will stand by all that he assured. They further said that we hope that the new house, as and when constituted, will complete the projects such as Multi-tier parking in the city, modern abattoir, solid waste management, assets building for the corporation and other projects prepared in the year 2007-2008 but are yet to be under taken These projects remained neglected due to lackadaisical attitude of the previous regime, they alleged. |
