Jammu, Dec 17 : STC warriors shall meet 4 Raj Rif, while J&K Police shall meet STC Terriers in the semi finals of the state senior basketball championship being organized at M A Stadium Jammu. While STC warriors had been declared joint winners with J&K Police in the recently concluded district basketball championships, 4 Raj Rif recently won the 26 infantry div Basketball championship that concluded last week in Jammu. Vikramaditya Singh, MLC, president J&K Basketball Association was the chief guest in today's matches. While addressing the players, he announced cash award of Rs. Ten thousand for Most Valuable Player (MVP) each in Men and women sections. He assured the players that the association shall make all out efforts to develop the game beyond capital cities of the state. On the second day of the championship, 11 matches were played including 5 in women section. Match between Jammu district and Kathua district turned out to be a thriller, with both teams matching each other point by point. It was only during the final minutes of the fourth quarter that Jammu men surged got a slender lead and hung on to it, finishing the match at 73-66. In other matches, Raj Rifles bt Baramulla district 44-16, J&K Police bt 157 TA 79-45, Srinagar district bt Udhampur district 40-12, BSF bt Baramulla 54-20. In women section, Jammu district bt Udhampur district 29-10, Srinagar district bt Kathua district 18-12, STC Hoopsters bt Udhampur district 54-14. Today's matches were officiated by a panel of BFI and state referees, led by Rajinder Magotra, senior SAI coach and BFI referee and included Mohd. Shafi, Basketball coach and BFI referee, Harpreet Singh, BFI referee and Ranbir Singh, Mousmi Verma, Sumit Dogra, Rajesh Bhagat, Rajesh Bandral, Vaneet Pangotra, Vinod Dogra, Sachin Dogra, Shubham Sharma, Abhishek Gupta, Ankita Singh, Sneha Choudhary, Amarpreet Kour. |
