NDF links children with Govt Psychiatric Hospital for psychosocial support | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 17: National Development Foundation (NDF), in partnership with Save the Children with support from European Union in collaboration with Govt Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases Medical College, Jammu organized psycho-social support through referrals at Govt. Psychiatric Diseases Hospital Jammu. The programme was inaugurated by Principal Govt. Medical College Jammu Dr Zahid H Geelani. Durng the programme Dr Osmani Suaida Veeri Superintendent Psychiatric Hospital, Mrs Arti Sharma President/ Chief Functionary NDF, Rajiv Khajuria, Dr Mannu Arora, Dr Rameshwar Singh Jamwal and Dr Shabnam Rayees examined the children with psycho-social stress and provided them medicines and counseling as per need. Atleast 50 children from far flung areas of Gool block of district Ramban alongwith their guardians were provided psychosocial support during the programme. Dr Zahid Geelani, Principal GMC Jammu during interaction with the children appreciated the efforts of National Development Foundation for establishing referrals of children of far flung areas of Gool with Govt Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases, Medical College Jammu and assured full support and cooperation of Govt. Medical College for all such future ventures also. He asked the guardians of the children to bring their children to the hospital as and when prescribed by the doctors and assured them full assistance from the Govt. side. Mrs Osmani Suaida Veeri Supdt Psychiatric Hospital lauded the effort of NDF and its partners for providing referral support to the children who are in need of psychosocial care and protection. Mrs Arti Sharma President/ Chief Functionary NDF in her address briefed that NDF has established referral with GMC Psychiatric Hospital Jammu for 150 children who hail from far flung area of block Gool in District Ramban. She said that NDF team at Ramban has identified these children in consultation with the Child Protection Committees and said this referral support to the children with psychosocial stress and hit by conflict will go a long run in developing these children into healthy citizens of the society. Adding she said that similar camps will be organized on 19th and 21st December for the remaining children. |
