CPPWU alleges NHPC violates MoU of Dul Hasti 390 MW power Project agreement

Kishtwar, Dec 19: Chairman of Chinar Power Projects Workers Union (CPPWU) District Kishtwar Joginder Bhandari alleged that the authorities of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) is violating the MoU agreement of Dul Hasti project reached between the NHPC and state government.
In a press statement issued here, Joginder Bhandari Chairman of the union has said that an agreement was signed between the NHPC and state government in which it was clearly mentioned that the NHPC will provide supply of power ,road connectivity , drainage system , hospital , free education , drinking water ,bus facility to school going children ,employment to effected land owners , schlorship etc within the radious of five kilometer of Dul Hasti Project but it is a matter of great concern that no such facility was provided since the project is generating 390 MW power and revenuve of crores of rupees yearly to central government.
He said that the local children reading in KV school on tuition fee basis have been denied bus service for which the children have to walk several kilometers to reach the school which has caused a brewing resentment among the locals.
Since the lands of the local people were occupied by the NHPC for this project but they have not been given any type of benefit and the employees from outside the state are enjoying luxurious life enjoying twenty four hour power and drinking water facility and the locals have been forced to fetch drinking water after covering a long distance, he added.
