| Vulnerable to hazards: An electricity pole within school premises poses danger | | |  Ashwani Sharma

Udhampur, Dec 19: The students and faculty members at Govt Middle school Uppery Garnai (Tikkri) of Udhampur district are prone to danger due to an electricity pole installed within the school premises but the concerned department (PDD) has not bothered to shift it
According t some faculty members, they always fear that this electric pole can play havoc during rains but authorities seemed least bothered about it.
While talking to Early Times, the school head (teacher) Kamal Sharma, said, "We have written to PDD Department Head Office Udhampur some months ago in regard to shifting this electricity pole outside the premises of school."
He also added this application has been moved through proper channel i.e. from ZEO, sarpanch and other high authorities but the concerned department yet is in deep slumber and has failed to shift the electrical pole out of school premises.
Another teacher said that this pole is posing danger to the children of school particularly in rainy season. He said that during rainy season we (teachers) are scared every time in school and take special precautions that nobody walks besides this electricity pole.
He also satirically said if the department is waiting for any eventuality to happen only than it would shift the electricity pole.
He also said that there is pressure of higher authorities including DC Udhampur to maintain school including repairs cum construction works of the school but we fail to go ahead due to this electric pole which is a great hurdle.
When contacted XEn PDD Udhampur Jarnail Singh said the matter was not in his knowledge but he will depute a team to visit the school to see every possibility of shifting the electrical pole soon. |
