| Youth shot to death over land feud | | | Rajouri, Dec 19: In a shocking incident a ration dealer has shot dead a National Conference youth leader over some reported land dispute under jurisdiction of Kalakot Police Station in Rajouri district in late evening hours on Saturday.
"The deceased has been identified as Ishtiaq Choudhry s/o Fakir Mohd of Mora Bhata, police sources said. They said, "The Ishtiaq (deceased) and the accused had some dispute over a piece of land and at about 7 pm reportedly had some verbal dispute with the accused outside his ration depot which later took ugly turn and in a fit of rage the accused opened fire on him with his .303 VDC gun resulting in instant death of Ishtiaq. "Soon after the incident people of the area locked the ration dealer identified as Kewal Krishan s/o Deewan Chand r/o Mora Bhata inside the ration depot, sources said.
Meantime on getting information about the protest resentment, Rajeshwar Singh, SSP Rajouri along with police party led by DPS HQs and SHO ,Rajouri rushed to the village to avoid possibility of clash and effected the arrest of Kewal Krishan to Kalakot Police Station. Sources also added the senior police officers are camping in the village while a case stands registered in this regard. |
