Two potters sustain injuries in landmine blast in Keran sector | | | S.Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report KUPWARA, Jan 10: Two potters sustained critical injuries when they inadvertently stepped on a landmine along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Kupwara district in North Kashmir on Sunday afternoon. According to sources, panic gripped in the border area of Keran sector in Kupwara district, when landmine exploded which made a big bang noise, with the result two potters were injured on spot. After a loud noise army from nearby camp rushed to the spot and found both the persons injured, said sources. Sources said that police have identified the potters as Parvaiz Ahmad Mir and Abdul Majeed Mir of Keran who were airlifted in an army chopper to Badamibagh Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment. A senior police official from Kupwara said that, "during patrolling both the potters accidentally stepped on the landmine, which exploded inflicting severe injuries to them, in which one potter has lost his right foot in the explosion. However official said there is nothing to worry and added that according to reports condition of both the potters is stable and are being treated in the Badamibagh army hospital in Srinagar. |
