Unconnected with Jammu people, BJP likely to be thrown out! | BJP to pay heavy price | | Government Formation in JK
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 10: Soon after the sad demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the governance in the state coming to a standstill has given enough reason to many stake holders as to what is being cooked under the carpet that has still not become transparent. Mehbooba's silence on the issue and alleged grapevine making rounds that she has set four pre-conditions to BJP for re-forming the alliance is not meeting face in its actual perspective. The reports on Mehbooba's alleged four pre-conditions set by her include no deputy Chief Minister role for BJP. The other three making rounds in media circle are enhancement of portfolios, more central assistance and avoidance on speaking on sensitive issues. Given such speculations, the BJP seemingly standing on the sticky wicket, is a pointer that it has lost its credibility. "Since the formation of the BJP government in the state, all its leaders, ministers, MLAs, and MoS had started behaving like the kingmakers that doomed their credibility in Jammu. They snapped all their connections with the Jammu people and went in a mode to appease the Kashmiris and their Kashmiri ministers only. We need all of them to be thrown out," said Ved Prakash, 79, a central government retiree. The other major development that has become apparent on the state milieu is about the Jammu region standing as the mute spectator after major crisis taking the state as the hostage. Leader for opposition in Rajya Sabha , Ghulam Nabi Azad , accompanying AICC president Sonia Gandhi to Mehbooba's residence for condolences and obviously to discuss the state governance scenario gives an apparent hint that there might be some striking changes. "None of the Jammu organizations, social heads, or a commoner stood in favor of BJP. There could have been a surge of emotional support to the saffron party which has got 25 MLAs from Jammu, but Jammu in a mute mode watching the proceedings , seems to go for change, obviously in favor of Congress tying up with PDP," said a BJP insider. Hari Om, a former BJP leader said," PDP leader Mehboob Beigh's interview to Economic Times saying that this is proper time for new beginning, aptly tells that PDP may not go in unison with BJP". He said that the people of Jammu have lost their faith in BJP because it violated the 2014 mandate. "Now Jammu wants to teach a lesson to BJP and that is why it is unconcerned," said Hari Om. Hari Om also said that while Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was there, Mehboob Beigh was a dormant entity. "Soon after Mufti's demise, he has become vocal. It is not just out of blues. Whatever he is deliberating to media, it is on the behalf of Mehbooba Mufti,"," said Hari Om. Meanwhile BJP has said it has not received any communiqué from the PDP about its new leader. It said the PDP has not put down any conditions for the continuance of the alliance. "The PDP has not elected its leader. Let it first make an announcement only then we will take any step," said Avinash Rai Khanna, MP and in-charge J&K BJP unit. He said there is set of procedures to be followed and let the PDP first complete its formalities. Khanna also refuted media reports suggesting that PDP has put set of conditions ."We haven't been informed about any such conditions," he said. It has further fuelled speculations on political uncertainty. Meanwhile State Bhartiya Janta party has said that everything regarding state governance with PDP is fine-tuned and there are no apprehensions on any break-up in the alliance. "We are going to Srinagar to attend the congregational Fateha of late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and thereafter there is probability also to meet Mehbooba Mufti over the state of affairs, "said Sat Sharma president BJP state unit while talking to Early Times. Sharma said that there is nothing realistic about what is being spread about the breaking up of the alliance as both parties are gelled well. "Everything is fine between both parties as both are more tuned to take up the developmental activities in the state. We are waiting for late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's daughter and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to take up her office so that an early meeting could be held," said BJP president. Both the presidents of BJP and PDP are likely to meet today in Srinagar to discuss the further state modalities. The BJP state spokesperson Sunil Sethi said since there has to be the formation of new government, some important points are likely to be discussed before its final shape. "BJP's prime interest would be to safeguard Jammu's interests first and no compromise would be done on that account," said Sethi. |
