2 ration dealers indulge in alleged black-marketing of rice, atta | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 10: A government ration dealer in Janipura area is alleged to selling rice, atta and sugar to outsiders on exorbitant rates, ignoring the genuine ration card holders. "When we approach him for ration, he says it is finished; come some other day, but the reality is that he sells it to outsiders, including labourers from outside the state," some consumers alleged. "He sells ration to these outsiders on exorbitant rates in black. While the Rs 85 worth 10 kg bag of atta is sold by him at Rs 120-140, rice is sold for Rs 20 per kg," they alleged, saying the ration was being sold to those who were not entitled to get it from the government ration depots. The consumers also lashed out at the CAPD department for its failure to check the black-marketing of ration, while assailing the department's enforcement and vigilance wing whose duty was to keep a check on such illegal practices by the ration dealers. They threatened to hold a protest against the CAPD department if immediate steps were not taken to stop the dealer from the alleged black-marketing of government ration. They feared that the dealer might delete their names if they openly opposed him and approached CAPD against him. Another ration depot dealer, who has a sale outlet near JDA complex at Janipura, is too alleged to be indulging in the black-marketing of ration. The consumers alleged that the depot was often faced with the scarcity of ration. CAPD Director G S Chib did not respond to the repeated calls made by Early Times on his cellphone. |
