PDP can't humiliate Jammu: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 10: Prof Hari Om, former political advisor to J&K BJP president, on Sunday dismissed as insulting, intolerable and provocative the PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig's statement that "there is no question of rotational chief minister, rules of the game cannot be changed midway into the game and BJP needed to stick to whatever it had agreed upon regarding the chief minister's post and cabinet portfolios". Prof said, no party with any self-respect will ever go near a party that is insulting, unreasonable and dictatorial, he said, adding that the BJP and its ally have not only equal number of MLAs but it is far more superior to the PDP in terms its vote-share both in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. "What Muzzaffar Hussain Baig said was an affront to the self-respect of the people of Jammu province. They are an integral part and parcel of the state polity and they, like the Kashmiri people, also have the right to lead a dignified life and have equal and effective say with Kashmir in the governance of the state. They are not subjects; they are proud Indian citizens whose life is also one of political and economic aspirations," he stated while reacting to the statement of the PDP leader. He added that the people of Jammu province had not voted for the BJP to surrender their fundamental rights to the PDP. The BJP would become a story of the past in Jammu province in case it swallowed the insult and obey the PDP's anti-Jammu and anti-democratic diktat as it did in March 2015 in lieu of practically nothing. "Why should the people of Jammu province obey the Kashmiri diktats? They are the master of their own socio-economic and political destiny. They have already suffered a lot at the hands of the New Delhi-supported Kashmiri leadership; they are no longer prepared to allow the Kashmiri leadership to determine their political and economic future or impose their regressive ideology on them," he also said. He expressed hope that the BJP will not commit another blunder by handing over everything to the PDP and not only insist on rotational chief minister but also on equal representation in the State Cabinet and Council of Ministers. It must sit in the opposition if the PDP rejected the Jammu's very rational and justifiable demand seeking the office of chief minister for three years, equal representation with the PDP in the State Cabinet and Council of Ministers and half of the crucial portfolios, he said, adding that the people of Jammu province will not accept anything short of it. |
