ARTO 'threatens' Poonch media
1/10/2016 10:33:01 PM
Early Times Report
Poonch, Jan 10: ARTO, Poonch, is alleged to have threatened media persons, who are working for different local newspapers, for highlighting public issues.
They were threatened through local TV channels. When they called on Poonch deputy commissioner M H Malik, he listened to them patiently and advised all the district officers to read the news carefully before initiating any action against media persons.
"I respect media. It is their duty to report any public issue," he said.
Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, also suggested the officers to clarify the news items before taking any step.
However, when they took up the matter with the transport minister on telephone, he disappointed them, saying he could not do anything in this matter.
This is the second alleged instance of officials threatening media persons. Earlier, it was JKEDI that has issued a threatening to the local scribes.
They have called upon the authorities concerned to do justice with them.
