| Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed, former chief Minister of Jammu & kashmir was an iconic politician beside a self made statesman. He started his political career from scratch and ride up to the highest political post of the state. He was a persona of many virtues collectively, above all he devoted his whole life in bringing peace and prosperity to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. During his first stint as CM, his tenure was a remarkable one and history will remember him for ages. The contribution of Mufti sahab in bringing peace to the borders after taking oath in 2002 is absolutely acknowledgeable and appreciable. The state was in turmoil and facing many challenges.
Mufti sahab also handed over 12000 job letters to educated unemployed youth and engaged them as Rehbar-e-Taleem at Zanana park in Jammu.
Beside this, during 2002 -2005, state has witnessed huge infrastructural development beside the confidence of the people have also been restored about government.
Strategically,mufti did a pro human job by concentrating army basements in buffer areas far away from civilian population which paved the way for public peace in general.It was right by dint of this move that ppl felt a sigh of relief. Mufti Sahab was much concerned about education and established two universities away from capital cities just to provide quality education to the poor far flung areas people. If Islamic University of Awantipura rewarded people of Kashmir division with quality technical education, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah university also provided quality education to the people of the Jammu region. BGSBU has also increased the literacy rate in Pir Panjal region. Pir Panjal region was blessed enough that it was having the kind attention of Mufti Sahab right from the beginning, Mufti Sahab was having a close amity and affection with this region and he fully advocated the restoration of Mughal road.
Luckily it was started during Mufti Sahab's tenure and now it's operational and directly connecting people of the two region across pir Panjal. This road not only open the doors for traffic but also great avenues for the people of the Rajouri and Poonch. In the second stint too, Mufti Sahab was curious in bringing peace and started advocating for the dialogue between two arch rivals.
Opening of cluster universities was a remarkable step which will benefit thousands of the people across the state.
Mufti Sahab has also laid the foundation of Loran-Tosha Maidaan road which will directly connect Poonch district with Kashmir division. Hopefully it will help in increasing the trade between two region beside it will also help in cultural exchange.
Poonch was also blessed that during Mufti Sahab's first tenure, Poonch was connected with Muzaffrabad through Chakan da bagh under track two diplomacy. This route has made people meet with each other separated by bloody line of control after decades.
Mufti Sahab was truly a statesman beside an ambassador to the peace. Mufti Sahab always pitches for dialogue between India and Pakistan as he was of the opinion that, the uneasy relations between two countries only adding miseries to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
