Police officer 'joins' narco smugglers | Mints money, senior officers remain silent | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: A police officer posted as Incharge of a Police post in Jammu region has developed links with two notorious drug smugglers, who happen to be siblings, sources told Early Times on Thursday. They said the narcotic smugglers who were wanted in number of cases are usually seen in the retiring room of the said police officer. "These two siblings are on radar of the intelligence agency of the state police as one of them is active in supplying narcotics in Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch," sources added. The matter, according to the sources, is in the notice of senior police officers and despite having information regarding the misdeeds of the said cop the senior police officers have maintained silence over the issue. Sources claimed the Sub-Inspector in question managed to get the plum posting at the recommendation of a senior police officer who is holding the key position. The misdeeds of the Sub-Inspector surfaced when he allegedly demanded and accepted Rs 5 lakh from a narcotic smuggler and later set him free. "Later, he rounded up another suspect in the same area and demanded the same amount. However the suspect couldn't arrange the amount demanded by the officer following which he implicated him in a narcotic smuggling case," sources claimed. |
