| 'BJP ka haath, Kashmir ke saath' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: The BJP has claimed that PDP-BJP government fulfilled the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi of "Sabka Saath Aur Sabka Vikas" and good governance and it was for the first time in the 67 years old history of the State of Jammu and Kashmir that Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were treated at par and corruption free governance was provided". The BJP also has claimed that the "PDP-BJP coalition government's 10 months rule has proved that all the three regions of the state can be pulled together towards an era of peace, prosperity and development".
Both the claims are laughable. The BJP's Sabka Saath Aur Sabka Vikas slogan is as hollow as it is highly biased. As far as the State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh is concerned, the Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas assertion is fundamentally Kashmir-centric. Even since the formation of the BJP Government at the Centre in May 2014, the people of Jammu and Ladakh have been suffering at all levels and in all spheres. The Union Government has reduced these regions to a nullity for all practical purposes. In fact, the plight of the people of these two regions was never that miserable and pathetic as it has been since May 2014. It was not for nothing that the people of Jammu region observed bandh for eight days against the BJP last year. Similarly, it was also not for nothing that the people of the region took out three massive protest marches in Jammu and organized almost two-month-long chain hunger strike against the Valley-centric BJP. Besides, it was also for nothing that the working in the courts remained suspended for more than two months, with even the BJP supporters in the community of lawyers striking work.
The claim of the BJP that the coalition government treated all the three regions equally was nothing but an exercise in self-deception. The truth is that Jammu had no say whatsoever in the governance when the BJP was part of the government. The reason was that it was Kashmir which controlled everything. It was also during those ten months that Jaziya was imposed on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage and similar other Hindu religious places. But more than that, two law officers (both from the RSS-BJP quota) were fired during the same period and their only crime was that they upheld the cow killing and beef eating laws in the J&K High Court. Besides, the coalition government rejected the age-old demand in Jammu seeking issuance of Dogra certificates to the Dogra youth.
But these are only a few of the several such instances which deflate the claims of the BJP, which is begging an alliance with the PDP. The BJP must stop making false claims. The people of Jammu region are fed up with its politics of bluff, deceit, emotional blackmail and politics of U-turn. |
