Jammu, Jan 14: Lohri festival was celebrated by Shopkeepers Association of Shivaji Chowk, Nanak Nagar with religious fervour and enthusiasm where members of working committee participated. President of the Shopkeeper Association Ashok Singh Sambyal, General Secretary Deepak Malhotra, Cashier Ranjan Gupta, Prem Gupta, Choudhary Krishan Chand, Vijay Sharma, Ankush Sharma, Sham Lal Sharma, Ajay Mahajan, Pankaj Sharma and other Members of the association were present on the occasion. There was gaiety and festivity in the air and a bonfire was lit marking a symbolic farewell to the winter. Sweet and peanuts were exchanged and distributed at the festival.The speakers in their speeches threw light on the importance of this festival. President while speaking prayed for the universal brotherhood, peace and social harmony of the region and the State. Adding further he said that Indian festivals are all about big gatherings. |
